Fighting the Devil
Today I had to "sorta fire" a friend. Thats a tough thing to do. But he lied to me. A really BIG lie, one pretty unforgetable and unforgiveable. Did he think I was that stupid?
What is the toughest thing you ever had to do?
I am retired now, a full-time writer. I still actively do retreats. I love the works of Thomas Merton and my new book, "Spiritual Journaling -God's Whispers in Daily Living" is available on Kindle and Amazon. http://amzn.to/qQz6Ng

I find myself currently wrestling with the thoughts of confronting a friend of fifteen plus years. I'm sure this wasn't easy for you and I know that it won't be easy for me.

Likewise, I had to end a friendship of over 10 years due to her absurd insistence that I should move to a foreign city where I had no friends or family. This friend had obtained an adoption of two children plus a babysitter to betray me, evidently by a very powerful organization that apparently has enough money to "buy the world". But money can't buy love...

The toughest thing I've ever had to do is forgive someone I love for something I thought was unforgivable. And while I choose not to associate with her any longer (just as you've chosen to sever ties with your friend), forgiving has been the hard part; the disgust and resentment that hardened my heart for so long was just as productive as someone who decides to swallow poison in hopes of killing the object of their betrayal.

Telling my secretary that her husband had just died was the toughest thing for me. He was a firefighter and suffered a heart attach after fighting a fire.
i've fired friends before. sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
