Monastic Skete- Daily Living A Hermit Lifestyle of Meditation
I am retired now, a full-time writer. I still actively do retreats. I love the works of Thomas Merton and my new book, "Spiritual Journaling -God's Whispers in Daily Living" is available on Kindle and Amazon. http://amzn.to/qQz6Ng

All Saints......This is what blesses an edifice: The hopes and faith and love of those who come to it to honor God. Recently, we were in a church (parish is 172 years old...church dates to 1844) and I was talking to the priest. He agree when I said what blesses a church is not the sacred oils, nor holy water nor incense offered BUT the devotion of the souls who came there lovingly to pray...in times of sorrow sometimes...in times of joy like Baptisms and Weddings... and in ordinary time. He agreed with much enthusiasm!
....the value of a sacred space...the treasure of a quiet sanctuary...how great, the place where our hearts go to Him and His to us!
...He is everywhere...but He is more easily found in a place of sacred beauty. Remember the line: 'When I pass a church...I stop in for a visit...When they carry me in at the end...He wouldn't say: 'Who is it?' Once I went to a church, expecting it to be locked....something said 'God anyway.' I knelt in the darkend doorway where no one could see me...said a prayer.(61 yers ago) So simple BUT I was drenched in a deep spiritual joy that overwhelmed me. Never had such an experience quite like that. Even today, I have never lost a sense of the actual Presence of Christ in the church."This IS my body...my blood."
