A Theology of Jesus

For some reason a convulsion of ideas has been bombarding me. An accident happened, I saw the movie Babel, I got involved with a war of words. Everything seems affected. Spirits are broken and words meanings disappear. Everything is out of sync. Everything that happens is out of order. It snows in California is just one example.

In Sunday School this morning we studied Jesus reply to the religious leaders seeking to trap him, "is it ok to heal on the sabbath." To them everything was clear - "this is what the law says."

More thoughts of Jesus came to mind, "you who are without sin cast the first stone," he says to those desiring to stone the prostitude.

As I considered this a thought occurred, "who is the ultimate authority Biblically speaking?" Paul, Peter, Moses, or Jesus. And this is my conclusion:

EVERY INTERPRETATION IN THE WHOLE BIBLE SHOULD BE SUBSERVANT TO HOW JESUS WOULD INTERPRET IT.

----Think about that for a minute. Is this another What Would Jesus Do scheme? Or, how would Jesus react? Paul says, "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him." (Philippians 3:10).

Even Paul agrees, Jesus is the ultimate authority. THINK ABOUT THAT?

....and this Jesus is Lord...the Alpha and the Omega...the Answer to questions that have not yet been asked...Lord of all nations...Shepherd for all willing souls...our Hope...our Strength and Refuge...He Who came to pay a debt He did not owe...our joyful rest at the end of the road...He Who loves beyond our understanding ... Who is this One in Whom you have such faith? .....

...and how shall we call Him?...King of kings, Lord of lords...Son of God...Our Lamb offered up...our Atonement...Surely, the Truth, the Way, the Life...the most desired of the nations...our Friend...our dearest other...most worthy of our love....most dependable One for help...Companion for the journey...Joy for all eternity. How do we begin a 'theology' of Jesus?...or end it?

...theology of Jesus..."Learn of Me, for I am meek and humble of heart"...Lessons to be treasured...lessons of the soul...the beginning of our eternal learning of Him...set aside the old ideas.... be a slate not yet written upon...come with clean vellum...be soft clay for the Potter...Come, He welcomes and waits...He desires your presence as He already knows that you love His Presence...'Come unto Me...'

...and my prayer is to come to know this Christ Whom the Father has sent...to share in His resurrection...not dead as before...full of life as He...to share in His Being...to wear some thorns as He...no one is above his master...and so to resemble Him...and when the Father looks down, He may say 'He looks like my Jesus. He reminds me of My Son.'
