Like many people misinterpret Halloween, hopefully, people won`t misunderstand or misinterpret that reality show and it will do well. I am looking forward to the premiere.

I watched the premier of Monastery and was very impressed to find monastacism and Christianity portrayed not only sympathetically but even heroically. The instructions of the Abbott and other monks are heartfelt and the men come across as realistic seekers. I hope that the remainder of the series lives up to this first episode.

Hi Dan,

You may be aware that a similar reality TV programme took place in the UK last year, filmed in a Benedictine Abbey. It was so successful, and gave such a positive view of monastic life, that the BBC this year did a similar programme filmed from a convent of Poor Clare nuns. Again it was a huge success. There has been a spin-off in terms of interest in retreats in monasteries, and the Abbot of the Benedictine monastery, Christopher Jamison, has published a very successful book called Finding Sanctuary: Monastic Steps for Everyday Life.
Best wishes,
Noreen Mackey

Hi,
I saw the first 3 episodes but then it went off the air here. Is it possible to buy the DVD of the finished product? I also heard they did a similar show where they put 5 women from different backgrounds into a trappist nuns monastery in Georgia. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks,
Liam.
