Merton Montana Retreat

I will be leading a Merton Retreat in Montana from April 7-9. Please be in prayer for this time together with a group of Disciples of Christ Ministers and their wives.

Here is information about the retreat center:

I am looking forward to a period of solitude and spiritual refreshment.

I am beginning a project to develop what I call, "The Spiritual Journals of Brother Dan Phillips." I am beginning to go back through my old journals and search for themes that occur again and again. So far I have:

Prayer

Gratitude -- have you ever made a gratitude journal.Gratitude is a healing companion.

Listening -- Pause so you can connect to that which keeps vigil in your heart. What is stirring in me?

Antiphons --Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Treasures of Darkness--Is.45:3

Handiwork of God -- The Lord moved the heart of Cyrus.

You get the idea. Prayers appreciated.

WONDERFUL .....The thoughts you received were meant to flow...like a waterfall is not created to just be there...but to send the waters on and on. God bless this work.

PRAYER...Prayer is a relationship...not always needing words... It is a tie with Him...perhaps in total silence. It has been said 'Lord, give me meaning behind my words...Never give me words without meaning.'

GRATEFUL........Oh Lord...of all things that I should be most faithful to is that joy of expressing daily my gratitude. Even thanking You in the stead of all who may forget You today. Let my thanks go to that empty place and there, sing with deepest thanks.

LISTENING.....A small still whisper....I missed it too often because I was not listening. Open Thou my ear.

ANTIPHONS.............To sing His praise with others in a response...So to unite with others in a united prayer. Let us give Him praise...Now and forever. Amen

DARKNESS..............Some things are not easily seen in the light...like the stars in the heavens. Wonder what things He has shown to souls in darkness. In darkness, we see so much more. In pain, we see what we might never see otherwise.

HIS HANDIWORK.....We look and, all around, are the hand prints of God. For only one example...a little child's face...so sweet and trusting and yearning. Signs of His works... Too numerous to list. But never stop looking.

,Art of Living Foundation Part One Basic Course Program For Well Being
Know Breath,Know Life
"When you cannot handle the mind directly,it can be handle through breath. The mind is like a kite and breath, the string- Sri Sri Ravishankar
It alway is mind over matter. The quality of our life is determined by the state of our mind.If the mind is at ease,we are able to perform all our duties whether household, professional or social with ease too.The question is how we keep the mind happy, when it keeps flitting between regrets about the past and worries about the future.
There is a built-in mechanism to calm the mind in each person, but seldom one is taught how to use it.And this is what you will learn from The Art of Living Part One Program
The centerpiece of this program is an innovation breathing technique called the Sudarshan Kriya.Breath has a great lesson for us.For every rhythm in the mind, there is a corresponding rhythm of our breath.Just as emotions affect the patterns of breathing, the mental and behavioural patterns can be changed by altering the rhythm of our breath.A remarkable feature of the course is that participant are able to rediscover the present moment, not as a concept but as a direct experience.

*Open to everyone above 20 years

RETREAT AND THE GIFT OF FAITH...........What a difference faith makes. Those who saw the signs became believers. BUT Christ blessed abundantly all those who would have faith though they did not see the miracles. To see and believe is easy...To not see and yet believe is to be blessed with that great gift, FAITH.

CHARITY AND THE RETREAT..........How many forms does charity take? Caring, worrying, lifting, consoling, giving, understanding, listening, trusting, etc ...how long the list. Lord, help our love find many forms of expression along our journey. The hungry await.
