Hi Dan! I've been enjoying your blog. You have a gift for concise reflection that I envy. When I came across this post, I realised I should stop lurking and contribute my grain. Bill is a great writer and an important Buddhist. I especially like "Road to Heaven: Encounters with Chinese Hermits." (For reasons that are not entirely mysterious. Ahem.)
