Merton thought from Wayne Burns

"I cannot make good choices unless I develop a mature and prudent
conscience that gives me an accurate account of my motives, my
intentions, and my moral acts. The word to be stressed here is mature."

(NO MAN IS AN ISLAND, page 27)

What steps am I taking in seeking to be spiritually mature?

MATURE..........To be spiritually mature... What comes to mind is the immature persons who want everything their way and cannot see another point of view. Am I this way in my spiritual life? Do I expect it all to be exactly like I wish? Do I refuse to be open to another way of doing things? "Lord, be with us each day...Let Thy will and Thy way be fine with us. Amen"

GOOD CHOICES.....Merton talks of good choices. When you think of our lives in Christ, isn't it a story of choices? Good or not...sinful or not...giving or taking...serving or not serving...blessing or cursing...humble or defiant...etc. "Lord, be with us in all our choices. As You have chosen and called us, may we make good choices so to please You on the journey. "
