Paul's Prayer
I have completed another Journal. It goes from April 14, 2011, until today, November 22. Finishing a journal is always a sacred moment, a time capsule of God's activity in my life during the past few months. Sometimes I review the entire journal to capture the moods of these months.
The most important thing to happen in these months has been the publication of my first book. Times to visit Chicago and Florida. A time to look at the spaces in my life, usually beginning with "devotion time" when I read scripture, pray, and pet the dog Cuddles sitting in my life. He is a praying dog who loves devotion time.
So verses from the journal stick out. "When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer. Don't ask questions." (From the Message, Lamentations 3:28-30)
A passage from the Apostle Paul catches my attention, a prayer for the church at Colossians.
1. That you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
2. That you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord
by pleasing Him
by bearing fruit
by increasing in knowledge
3. That you may be strengthened with the power of endurance and patience with JOY.
4. Giving Thanks to the Father.
That is a lot of wisdom for the day."Lord, thanks for the words in this journal. May it be a source of strength and power as I put it away for a new one. As years pass, may I return to it and find solace and continued direction for my life as I seek to do they will." Amen
