Day of Trouble

I have been studying Psalm 77 for two days. It is a Psalm of despair,
the writer can't sleep, feels helpless (without comfort), and his spirit
faints.

At first I thought there had been a death in the family but then realize
he is dealing with a troubled nation defeated by the Assyrians in 721
possibly.

As I thought about it a shift occurred in me? What about our nation? Is
it different? Financial institutions fail, jobs have been lost, sales
are down, gas is scarce. Where does God fit into our lives?

Asaph concludes that "unseen footprints," the handiwork of God, should
be a constant remembrance for us. God led his flock. Do we have faith in
God to lead us? Have we surrendered to him?

G1 Android

I have been a long time from the pages. My sidekick 3 has been torn up,
leaving me without an opportunity to blog. Am about to celebrate 65th
birthday in 2 weeks. Not sure how I feel about that. Baby Jack is 13
months old. Don't have any new pictures because camera phone has been
torn up. In last month have been to Perdido Kay for vacation and a trip
to Gethsemani.

Was thinking about buying new T mobile android which had its coming out
party today but was not impressed, mainly because no video camera. Not
sure what I will do. Still waiting for HTC Touch Pro or X1.

I have been reading Seven Sacred Pauses by macrina wiederkehr. Really
great book. Heard her speak 2 weeks ago at church in Nashville.

Anyone alive out there?

Robert Giroux Obituary

Robert Giroux, the friend and published of Thomas Merton's Seven Storey Mountain has passed on. The following is his obituary from the New York Times.

I will write a longer story soon of my meeting Robert Giroux at the dedication of the Thomas Merton Library at Bellarmine University.
